Application Requirements and Access:

Completed application forms should be submitted on or before January 15th to the Graduate School. This date is set by the Wake Forest Graduate School, not by the Psychology Department itself.  For more information, please check with the Graduate School website, https://graduate.wfu.edu/admissions-checklist/.

Both the general GRE test and the Psychology GRE subject test are optional as part of the application, but we do encourage the general GRE test in particular. The school/department code for the GRE is 5885 and TOEFL is B994.

Unofficial transcripts will be accepted for the review process and should be attached to the on-line application. Applicants are required to submit transcripts from each college or university attended or attending.  ONLY if an offer of admission is made and accepted will official transcripts will be required prior to orientation. Official transcripts must arrive in a sealed institutional envelope and initialed on the back flap by the certifying officer and should be sent directly to the Graduate School Office.

Other Information:

The Psychology Department usually begins the review of applications around February 1st and we enroll 10 to 16 students each academic year. Admission is based on many factors, including but not limited to undergraduate GPA, GRE scores, research experience, letters of recommendation, and evidence of motivation. Although we do not have a strict “cut-off” for GRE scores or GPA, our past 3 year average GRE score is 315 (combined verbal and quantitative), and the average GPA is 3.76. We do accept students without a psychology major, particularly when they have the basic psychology training that is necessary for our program, such as Introductory Psychology, Research Methods, and Statistics. See the FAQ for more information on our admission procedure.

If you apply and have questions about the completeness of your application, please contact the graduate school rather than the department using this email address: gradschl@wfu.edu.
