About the Department

The Department of Psychology at Wake Forest University emphasizes both the commitment to excellence in classroom teaching characteristic of the liberal arts college and the commitment to scholarship characteristic of the research university.  Such a dual emphasis is consistent with the faculty’s philosophy that education and science are intimately related ventures, each of which benefits  from cross-fertilization by the other.

The Department offers a rigorous undergraduate curriculum in psychology that emphasizes its scientific foundations and , as well as a research-oriented master’s program. designed specifically to prepare students for doctoral work.  Our The faculty teaches courses and conducts research in a wide variety of areas. Across this work, three research foci consistently emerge: self-regulation, the science of well-being, and approaches to analysis and measurement.
