About the Department
The Department of Psychology at Wake Forest University emphasizes both the commitment to excellence in classroom teaching characteristic of the liberal arts college and the commitment to scholarship characteristic of the research university. Such a dual emphasis is consistent with the faculty’s philosophy that education and science are intimately related ventures, each of which benefits from cross-fertilization by the other.
The Department offers a rigorous undergraduate curriculum in psychology that emphasizes its scientific foundations, as well as a research-oriented master’s program designed specifically to prepare students for doctoral work. The faculty teaches courses and conducts research in a wide variety of areas. The themes that connect our work include Self-Regulation, the Science of Well-Being, and Analysis & Measurement.
